Cyber Essentials preparation

I help small businesses get ready to apply for a Cyber Essentials certificate: understand the scope, identify gaps and put practical improvements in place.

Prepare the business before the assessment

Bring an outline of your devices, cloud services and current IT arrangements. We agree which systems are in scope and review them against the scheme requirements applicable to your application.

Identify gaps and organise the work

Preparation can cover firewalls, secure configuration, user access, malware protection and security updates. I can help review Microsoft 365 accounts, supported software and device settings, then agree the changes your business needs.

Changes are scoped and authorised before implementation. Findings that require a specialist or your existing provider are recorded for follow-up.

A readiness plan you can act on

  • An agreed scope and system inventory.
  • A gap list with priorities and owners.
  • Agreed configuration improvements and a record of checks.
  • Help preparing accurate self-assessment responses.
  • A handover covering remaining actions and ongoing maintenance.

Preparation and certification are separate

My service helps you prepare; it does not award a certificate or guarantee a pass. Assessment and certification are handled separately by an IASME-authorised certification body. Your organisation remains responsible for accurate answers and meeting the requirements.

Preparation fees, assessment fees and any additional technical work are identified separately in the proposal.

Next step

Discuss your readiness

Explain your goal, the systems involved and your timescale. We will agree the review and the next steps.
